Three ICCAC student-athletes earned national honors on the diamond this week (and one last week!)

March 20-26

DI Baseball - Player

Zach Hanna – Iowa Western – Left Field – Sophomore

Iowa Western won five of six games last week thanks in part to Zach Hanna. Hanna batted .571 last week in those six games. He had two home runs, 10 RBIs, and also scored seven runs. Hanna also recorded three stolen bases. Zach Hanna has been Iowa Western's most consistent offensive player this season, leading the team in batting average, RBIs, and home runs. 


DII Baseball - Pitcher

Max Steffens – Iowa Central - RHP – Freshmen

Max Steffens came up big in his start last week, recording a complete game shutout in a 1-0 win against Southeastern. Steffens tallied eight strikeouts and didn't walk a batter in seven innings. He allowed only two hits and no runs. Steffens is 1-1 in three starts on the season and has the lowest ERA on the team at 2.51.


DII Softball - Player

Lexi Ferrari – Kirkwood - Shortstop – Sophomore

Lexi Ferrari was perfect last week. Literally, she batted six for six in two wins over Iowa Central last week. Ferrari had three home runs and two doubles in her six at bats. She also had seven RBIs and scored six runs. Ferraris is currently on a 21-game hit streak and is ranked seventh in the nation in RBIs. She is also first in conference play in runs, hits, doubles, home runs, and total bases. Kirkwood is currently 22-1 on the season and is second in the NJCAA.


March 13-19

DII Softball - Pitcher

Lexi Kinnaird – Kirkwood – RHP – Sophomore

Lexi Kinnaird leads all of Division II softball players in total strikeouts (97), strikeouts per game (11.71), and shutouts (5) this year. Those numbers only ballooned this last week. Kinnaird pitched two complete game shutouts, while tallying up 26 total strikeouts and only allowing two hits. The sophomore also went two of three from the plate this weekend and scored two runs including playing a first base in another game for three innings. She takes home the Athlete ofthe Week award for the second straight week.
