MANKATO, Minn. - NIACC track and field's Lance Maxwell (So., Racine, WI) and McKenna Wragge (Fr., Hampton, IA) both clinched berths to the NJCAA Indoor National Championships, while Anna Buenneke (So., Hazelton, IA) qualified for nationals in her third event at the Minnesota State Open on Saturday.  

Maxwell was fourth in the men's shot put, and qualified for the national meet with a throw of 15.30 meters (50 feet, 2½ inches).  The qualifying mark was 14.95 meters.

Wragge became the second Trojan to qualify for nationals in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch), which was ninth best at the meet.  Tanesha Edmond (So., St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) qualified in that event with a jump of 1.61 meters (5 feet, 3¼ inches) last weekend at the Iowa State Open.

Buenneke qualified for her third event by winning the 5000-meter run in 18:18.26. She qualified for the 1600- and 3000-meters last weekend.

Other notable NIACC finishers included Edmond , who was second the women's pentathlon with a score of 3175, RJ Harris (So., Des Moines, IA) placed fifth in the men's 600 at 1:25.66, and Trent Smith (Fr., Charles City, IA) placed sixth in the men's 5000 in 15:37.73.

Wragge and Maxwell brings NIACC's the number of qualifiers for nationals to six.  Outside of Buenneke and Edmond, Harris and OJ Ojullu (Fr., Worthington, MN) qualified in the men's 800- and 1000-meter runs last weekend.  The national meet is on March 2 in Charleston, Illinois.

NIACC will travel to the Hilltop Invite at Cornell College next Friday and Saturday.
