ROCHESTER, Minn. - #12 NIACC wrestling only managed to win three decisions in a 35-9 loss to #3 Labette Community College on Saturday.
Labette pounced on NIACC early, with Garrett Jones pinning
Andres Torres at 125, followed by a NIACC forfeit at 133 to make it 12-0 after two rounds.
At 141. Moinius put NIACC on the board with a 4-0 decision over Tyler Davis. NIACC then lost the next three matches. Jeremy Davenport responded for Labette at 149 by topping NIACC's Gibson Metellus in a 9-5 decision.
Labette then recorded a pair of pins at 157 and 165. Devin Aguirre pinned
Juan Munoz in 3:36 and Ethan Orr followed up with a pin of
Justin Head in 3:44. The pins gave Labette a 27-3 lead.
Bryant's and Minto's decisions at 174 and 184 cut the lead to 27-9. Bryant won an offensive 174- match with Kayton Marshall, 12-8. Minto won his 184-match against John Hambleton, 3-2.
The match ended with a pair of Labette wins by Zach Anderson and Jack Page. Anderson won 2-0 over
Michael Guerrero at 197, and Jack Page won by technical fall (16-0) over
Mark Tiedemann.
NIACC will have another tough dual on Thursday as they will travel to Fort Dodge to take on #1 Iowa Central. That dual will start at 7 p.m.
