Sheila Menezes

Sophomore outside hitter Sheila Menezes is a key factor in getting the DMACC Bears the number one spot in the Division II Region XI A Bracket. Menezes helped the Bears go 3-0 this past week. Against Northeast, Menezes had 12 kills, averaging a .409, had 16 digs, 3 block assists, and one service ace. Against Marshalltown, Menezes had 14 kills, 10 digs, 4 block assists, and one service ace. Against Indian Hills, Menezes had 10 kills, 13 digs, one block assist, and three service aces.
Football Defensive Athlete Of The Week
D'Shawn Dexter

Iowa Central pulled out a close win over Ellsworth this past weekend, due to their defense coming up strong at crucial points of the game. The defense was led by freshman safety D'Shawn Dexter, who one interception to seal the victory with under two minutes to go. Dexter also had one fumble recovery, 10 tackles, one tackle for a loss, and two pass breakups in the matchup.
Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week
Nate Criswell

Special teams came up big for Iowa Central in their close win this weekend. Place kicker Nate Criswell was four for four on field foals in the Tritons' 21-20 win over rival Ellsworth. Criswell's kicks came from 32, 45, 49, and 51 yards out. Criswell's toughest kick came from 49 yards out, kicking against the 15 mile per hour wind. Criswell is now 13-17 on field goals this season and is a perfect 14-14 on extra point attempts.
Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

Iowa Central Community College
Iowa Central Men's Basketball is starting the season off strong; winning their first two games due to the dominance of sophomore guard Dylan Travis. Travis shot 62.5% from the three-point line and 65% from the field for the first week of the season. Travis also averaged 5 rebounds per game and shot 71% from the free throw line. Travis averaged 24.5 points over the two games last week for Iowa Central.
Women's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week
Jasmine Howe
Freshman
Marshalltown Community College
Marshalltown freshman guard Jasmine Howe showed off her skills in her first career game by recording a double-double against MCC-Penn Valley. Howe had 23 points and 11 rebounds in the game, both game-highs. Howe also recorded the first eight points of the game for the Tigers and hit three three-pointers in the first half. In the game, Howe also had four assists and three steals on the defensive side.
Women's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week
Mackenzie Gott
Sophomore
Marshalltown Community College
Sophomore forward Mackenzie Gott came off the bench in the second half to help lead Marshalltown's defense to a win in their first game of the season. Gott recorded a double-double in her time in the second half. Gott also grabbed 10 rebounds, including six of them on defense. Last season, Gott led the team in rebounds per game with an average of 9.9.
