Voss, Smith Take Home 2024 Gold Glove Honors
Two ICCAC Players took home Gold Glove honors Nate Voss of Iowa Western and Cole Smith of Southeastern. The award is presented to players by the ABCA and Rawlings with only 27 NJCAA players, 9 from each Division, receiving recognition.
Nate Voss was the ICCAC's First Team All-Region catcher for the 2023-24 season. Voss ended the season with a perfect fielding percentage in 288 chances. Voss also behind the plate caught 14 of 21 runners stealing in the season for a 46.2% on runners going. Voss totaled 260 putouts and 28 assists. Voss and the Reivers ended the season with a 54-10 record and made it to the NJCAA World Series.
Voss was the first Gold Glove winner for Iowa Western since third baseman Benjamin Palmer.
From Division II, the lone Gold Glover was ICCAC's Defensive Player of the Year Cole Smith. The Blackhawks' center fielder received his second gold glove award, previously winning in 2022. He held a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage through the 2023-24 season where he played in all 62 games. In 160 total chances didn't make a single error and collected 146 putouts. Smith and Southeastern finished the season with a 43-19 record making it to the NJCAA World Series.
Smith continued Southeastern's run of Gold Glove winners, giving them five earners in the last three seasons.
