Iowa Central's McIntyre Named NJCAA Division II Baseball Player of the Year
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After producing a remarkable season, Iowa Central's George McIntyre has been named the NJCAA Division II Baseball Player of the Year.
McIntyre's selection marks the second consecutive season an ICCAC player has earned the honor. Kirkwood's Cal Sullivan was named NJCAA Division II Baseball Player of the Year last season.
Offensively, McIntyre delivered staggering numbers that placed him among the most dangerous hitters in junior college baseball. In 226 at-bats, he recorded 110 hits, scored 136 runs, blasted 32 home runs, drove in 102 RBIs and collected 22 doubles. He also showcased exceptional plate discipline with 69 walks while adding 28 stolen bases. McIntyre finished the season with a .487 batting average, .621 on-base percentage and eye-popping 1.009 slugging percentage.
Defensively, McIntyre was equally valuable. He had 239 total chances, recording 77 putouts and 148 assists while maintaining a .941 fielding percentage. His versatility and reliability in the field provided another dimension to his game and reinforced his reputation as one of the nation's premier two-way contributors.

"His accomplishments on the field have been remarkable, but what makes this recognition even more special is the character and professionalism he brings to our program every day. George has represented Iowa Central with pride and excellence, and we could not be more proud of him for earning one of the highest individual honors in junior college baseball."
McIntyre has signed to play at Dallas Baptist, where he will continue his baseball career.
