Iowa Central Women Take Back Indoor Crown
STORM LAKE, Iowa - After two years of Iowa Western's reign at the top, Iowa Central powered to a seven point win over the Reivers at the 2023 ICCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The Tritons won 12 of the 20 events over the two-day meet at Buena Vista University. Led by Adeyah Brewster, the sophomore athlete had 34 team points to give the Tritons a boost. She took first in the 60 Meters and 60 Meter Hurdles -- along with second in the Triple Jump and third in the Long Jump.
Chloe Garcia Grafing had a big day as well -- She was first in the 1000 Meters, 5000 Meters, and Distance Medley Relay. She got third place in the Mile and was on the 4x400 Meter Relay team that also got third.
Britney Brown won the 600 Meters and was a part of the third place 4x400 Meter Relay team.
Other winners were Nyadhol Thichiot in the Triple Jump, Taylor McCreedy in the Mile and Paige Condon in the 800 Meters and Pentathlon. As a team, Iowa Central took the 4x8000 and Distance Medley Relays.
Iowa Western's Miracle Ailes had a big day as well -- with 28 points -- with first place finishes in the High Jump and Long Jump. She added a runner up finish in the 60 Meters.
The Reivers also took first in the 400 Meters thanks to Ethel Amissah, the Pole Vault from Baylee Horner, Jazmyn James in the Shot Put, and the 4x400 Meter Relay.
Southeastern's Aisha Ramone totaled 21 points on the day with four second place finishes in the 1000 Meters and Mile individually -- and was a part of the 4x800 and Distance Medley runner ups.
Rounding out the winners was Hawkeye's Abby Bartz who won the Weight Throw.
