2021 ICCAC Sport Shooting Championships this Saturday
After the fall season of virtual competition, the time has come for the ICCAC schools to compete for a Region Championship in person on Saturday, April 17. In conjunction with the SCTP Championship, the conference will crown their champion after plenty of obstacles had to be overcome in order to get to this point.
This fall, one team in each division went undefeated during regular season, head-to-head competition. In the East division, Hawkeye went 6-0 and had a point differential of +171, as the Redtails and Southeastern were the only teams in the division that finished above .500. Hawkeye's top shooter on the season was Jake Maakestad with a 94.6 average.
Iowa Central went undefeated in the West going a conference-best 7-0 with a point differential of +485. The Tritons led the league in points scored (3434) and had the highest average per match up (490.57 (out of 500)). The Tritos were led by Andrew Troje who averaged a 99. He hit 100 targets on Sept. 17 in their head-to-head vs. Kirkwood.
All ICCAC teams in attendance this weekend will be eligibile to win the conference title. The team with the top-five shooters will be awarded the 2020-21 ICCAC Conference Championship trophy.
There will be plenty of great shooters, with a member from each school shooting 95+ at some point during the season. The potential for high scores will be present all over.
The questions will be who can take the individual title as there were seven different times that individuals shot perfect 100's throughout the season, an average of one per week. Also, will Iowa Central be able to repeat, or will another team be able to take the title away from the Tritons?
