Kirkwood Teammates Named NJCAA Women’s Basketball All-Americans
The NJCAA announced its 2024–25 Women's Basketball All-American Teams on Wednesday, and two standout players from Kirkwood Community College were recognized for their exceptional seasons. Sophomore sharpshooter Jenna Twedt and standout freshman Kaliyah Sain were both named All-Americans after helping lead the Eagles to a Region 11 Championship and a semifinal appearance at the national tournament.
For the second consecutive year, Jenna Twedt earned First Team All-American recognition after a stellar season as Kirkwood's top scoring option. Twedt averaged 15.9 points per game while shooting 44.2% from the field. She was one of the most dangerous three-point shooters in the nation, knocking down 112 threes — the third-most in the NJCAA — at an impressive 40.3% clip, the fifth-highest percentage nationally.
Twedt's contributions extended far beyond her scoring. She averaged 2.4 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game, while maintaining an outstanding 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio. She also proved clutch at the free-throw line, shooting 80.2% on the season. Her total of 557 points ranked 21st among all NJCAA players. Twedt's all-around excellence earned her ICCAC Player of the Year honors and was instrumental in the Eagles' Region 11 title run.
Sophomore Kaliyah Sain made her mark early and often in her first season with the Eagles. After transferring back to her hometown team (previously at Lindenwood University (Mo.), the ICCAC Newcomer of the Year averaged 13.5 points per game while shooting a highly efficient 46.8% from the field.
Sain's biggest impact came on the defensive end, where she was a constant threat in the passing lanes. She averaged 2.5 steals per game, totaling 88 steals on the season. Her relentless defensive presence, paired with her scoring ability, made her one of the most complete freshmen in the country and a deserving All-American honoree.
With Twedt's and Sain's recognition, this marks the fourth time in the last five seasons that a pair of Eagle teammates have been named to the NJCAA All-American list in the same year.
