2025 District Preview | Division II Women's Golf
ANKENY, Iowa – The postseason has officially arrived for NJCAA Division II Women’s Golf, as teams from the ICCAC and Regions 9 and 13 gear up for the North Plains District Championship. The event will be held at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny, Iowa, and serves as a qualifier for the NJCAA Division II National Championship.
The two-day tournament begins Monday, April 28, with the first round teeing off at 10:00 a.m. Competitors will play 18 holes each day, wrapping up the second and final round on Tuesday, April 29. By tournament end, the top three teams and three individuals (if finish inside the top 12) will advance to the NJCAA National Tournament.
Six teams from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) will compete for a spot in the national tournament, which will be held nearby in Boone, Iowa, at Cedar Pointe Golf Course. Representing the ICCAC are Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), Hawkeye Community College, Iowa Central Community College, Iowa Lakes Community College, North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC), and Southeastern Community College.
Iowa Central, currently ranked No. 3 nationally, enters the tournament as one of the favorites. The Tritons boast three golfers ranked in the top 25, led by Ivanna Becerra-Diaz, who is ranked No. 6 in the nation. Becerra-Diaz has been a standout all season, claiming two tournament titles and finishing in the top three in nine events.
DMACC also brings a deep and balanced lineup into district play. The Bears are ranked No. 10 nationally, with all seven golfers positioned inside the top 100. Anne Van Hemert leads the way at No. 27, having captured one tournament win this spring along with two additional top-five finishes.
NIACC, ranked No. 12, will also be in the mix for a team qualification spot. The Trojans are anchored by freshman standout Meghan DeLong, who has quickly emerged as one of the top players in the country. DeLong is ranked No. 9 nationally and has won eight individual titles this season. Remarkably, she has finished no lower than fourth in any tournament she’s played.
While Iowa Central, DMACC, and NIACC headline the ICCAC field, Iowa Lakes, Hawkeye, and Southeastern are also aiming to earn team or individual qualifications to the national championship. Outside of the region, Alexandria Tech (Minn.), North Platte (Neb.) and Southeast (Neb.) will send individuals to compete -- however none will
