Division I Women's Golf National Tournament Recap
GARDEN CITY, Kan. – Both Division I Women's Golf teams represented the ICCAC at the NJCAA National Championship last week.
Iowa Western, ranked No. 13 nationally heading into the tournament, finished 12th out of 16 teams. Indian Hills, ranked No. 14, placed in line with their national standing. While neither team had a breakout performance, both met expectations by qualifying for the National Tournament, cementing their place among the top 16 programs in the country.
For Iowa Western, Olivia Holyoak-Church delivered a standout performance, placing 21st out of 92 golfers. Her strong showing earned her Honorable Mention All-American honors. At one point during the tournament, she rose as high as 11th on the leaderboard.
Other golfers contributing to Iowa Western's team score included Beatriz Pinheiro, who placed 41st at +31, and Jennifer Cho and Lauren Brown, who both finished tied for 48th at +34.
Indian Hills was led by freshmen Joska Nelis and Sofia Saavedra, who tied for 41st. Their performances were especially notable as they helped set a competitive standard in the Warriors' inaugural season of women's golf at the national level.
Rounding out the scoring for Indian Hills were Poppy Norcott, who shot +32 to finish 32nd, and Veronica Rodriguez, who placed 60th at +41.
