2026 Region 11 Championship Preview | Women's Wrestling
MASON CITY, Iowa — The ICCAC Women's Wrestling Region 11 Championships return Saturday to North Iowa Area Community College for the second edition of the event in conference history. The event serves as the Region 11 Championship, but it does not impact national qualification, as the NJCAA Women's Wrestling National Championships remain an open-entry tournament in which programs may enter competitors at their discretion.
Five nationally ranked teams headline the event, including No. 1 Indian Hills, No. 3 Iowa Central, No. 4 Iowa Western, No. 6 Hawkeye, and No. 10 Iowa Lakes. The Warriors enter as the three-time reigning NJCAA national champions, though they will compete with just eight wrestlers in the regional field. Meanwhile, defending Region 11 champion Iowa Central brings a maximum 25-wrestler roster into the tournament and could leverage its depth in the team race.
At 103 pounds, No. 3 Jamiyah Blount-Taylor (Indian Hills) and No. 5 Erica Pastoriza (Iowa Central) headline the bracket alongside No. 8 Lemuna Gurisho (Hawkeye), creating an early marquee weight to watch.
The 110-pound bracket features nationally ranked Mia Kurth (Hawkeye), ranked No. 4 at 117 earlier this season, while Iowa Central counters with Molly Damiyah and Sek Smith in a deep middleweight group.
One of the most intriguing brackets may come at 117 pounds. No. 1 at 124, Rosalia Rubio (Iowa Western), drops into the field alongside No. 3 Hailey Medina (Iowa Western) and No. 2 at 110 Aneth Campos (Iowa Central). The depth at this weight could create several high-level semifinal matchups.
At 124, No. 3 Jeream Estabilio (Iowa Central) anchors the bracket as the Tritons again look to score valuable team points.
The 131-pound class features No. 3 Annabelle Petsinger (Iowa Central) and No. 7 Abigail Ji (Iowa Lakes) in a loaded field that includes multiple contenders from across the conference.
At 138, No. 4 at 145 Sara Daley (Iowa Western) headlines the division, while 145 pounds itself is led by No. 1 at 160 Ayana Fletcher (Iowa Western), giving the Reivers a strong presence in the upper middle weights.
The 160-pound bracket includes No. 2 at 145 Valerie Hamilton (Iowa Central) and No. 5 Allie Grow (Iowa Central), providing Iowa Central with another opportunity to capitalize on depth.
At 180, No. 2 Kiernan Farmer (Southeastern) and No. 8 Alexa Karch (Iowa Lakes) highlight the contenders in a competitive upper-weight class.
The 207-pound division is led by No. 3 Alyson Krum (Hawkeye), No. 5 Audre Herron (Iowa Western), and No. 8 Makenna Fetters (Hawkeye), setting up a potential three-way battle for the title.
The heavyweight 235-pound bracket may be the most nationally significant weight of the tournament. No. 1 Kennedi Johnson-Washington (Indian Hills) leads the field, but will be challenged by No. 2 Faith Tarrant (Iowa Western), No. 3 Mack Arends (Hawkeye), and No. 5 Brooklyn Robinson (Iowa Lakes) in a bracket stacked with top-five talent.
With nationally ranked wrestlers spread throughout nearly every weight class, Saturday's championship will serve as both a regional showcase and a preview of what's to come at the NJCAA National Championships. Indian Hills' championship pedigree, Iowa Central's roster size, and Iowa Western's high-end star power make for a compelling team race that could come down to bonus points and placement depth.
Final team scores will be determined by each program's top 13 individual finishers, with official totals calculated at the conclusion of the tournament; running scores throughout the day will reflect all entries, and only advancement points will be awarded in teammate-versus-teammate matchups.
Action begins Saturday in Mason City as Region 11 crowns its 2026 champions.
