Match of the Week: #13 DMACC def. (RV) Central
DMACC dominated previously ranked Central in straight sets Wednesday, building momentum ahead of next Tuesday's matchup with No. 9 Iowa Central.
The Bears came out fast and never looked back, taking the first two sets 25-18 before closing out the match with ease, 25-14.
Defense fueled the victory as DMACC piled up 76 digs. Freshman Kathryn Lukkarinen led the way with 21 digs -- while Lauren Sundvold has 19. Sydney Anderson added a double-double with 14 assists and 13 digs. Offensively, Reagan Wheeler paced the Bears with nine kills. Indy Johnson had four aces, impressively.
Central's top performers were led by Chloe Henn who had seven kills and 2 blocks. Kerry Ryan had six kills and four blocks. Mallory Dreesen had six kills and 12 digs. Meah Sackett led the Raiders in assists with 22. along with four digs and two block assists. Marin Reilly and Dreesen each had 12 digs.
The win improved DMACC to 12-7 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The Bears will look to keep rolling Tuesday when they travel to Fort Dodge to face No. 9 Iowa Central.
Central will try to rebound Sept. 30 at home in Columbus, Neb., against Northeast.
